COVID-19: Senegal records 10th coronavirus-related death, 89 new confirmed cases

Dakar, Senegal, May 4 (Infosplusgabon) -  Senegal recorded its 10th coronavirus-related death and 89 new cases on Monday, the Ministry of Health and Social Action announced at its daily press briefing on the epidemiological situation.

Of the 807 tests done, the ministry said 89 were positive to coronavirus. They comprise 86 contact cases being treated and 3 cases from community transmission.

In contrast, 43 patients tested negative and were discharged.

To date, Senegal has 1,271 positive cases,  415 recovered, 10 deaths, 1 evacuated and 845 still under treatment, six patients being in serious condition and being treated in the resuscitation departments at Fann University Hospital and the Principal Hospital in Dakar.

The state of emergency was extended on Sunday until 2 June and the curfew maintained from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. to curb the spread of the virus.
