Coronavirus: Tunisia records total of 41 deaths, 998 confirmed cases

Tunis, Tunisia, May 2 (Infosplusgabon) -  A new death due to coronavirus (COVIC-19) was recorded here Friday, taking to 41 the number of deaths since the beginning of the epidemic in the country, a statement issued here Friday by the health ministry said.

 

The statement also said four new detected cases and 19 other positive cases were recorded from former patients out of the 569 tests carried out.

 

The national evaluation of cases therefore climbs to 998 confirmed cases out of a total of 23,526 samples.

 

With 223 cases, the region of Tunis has recorded the largest number of contaminated people, followed by Kébili (99 cases), Ariana (98), Ben Arous (94), Médenine (88) and Sousse (82).

 

The ministry said that 316 patients were cured while 24 others were presently placed in confinement.

 

The ministry added that the tests are carried out mainly on suspected cases and people who had contact with other infected, calling citizens to conform to the security measures established to eradicate the spread of the virus.
