Mahama Kappiah appointed ECOWAS ambassador to UN

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, May 2 (Infosplusgabon)  -  Mahama Kappiah was Friday appointed ambassador of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to the United-Nations, a statement issued by the regional institution said here.

The statement added that for his exemplary contributions to the renewable energy sector and energy efficiency, Kappiah received the prize for African Energy Leader for the Year.

 

The award was also in recognition of his exceptional performances and innovation in the sector of energy.

 

He also received the Green Future Leadership Award for conducting positive social change in 2017.

 

Kappiah is a member of the board of directors of several important international organisations in the domain of renewable energy sources, particularly the Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21), and the Clean Energy Solutions Center.

 

He is also a member of the high-level Africa-Europe platform for Sustainable Energies Investments (SEI Platform).

 

Kappiah will be replaced by Bah Saho, who will take up the duties of CEREEC executive director.

 

Saho occupies the position with rich experience covering a period of more than 25 years in the energy sector.
