Coronavirus: Algeria records 158 new confirmed cases

Algiers, Algeria, May 1 (Infosplusgabon) - A total of 158 new confirmed cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Algeria, bringing the number to 4,006, the spokesperson of the Scientific Committee to Monitor the Evolution of the Coronavirus Pandemic, Dr. Djamel Fourar, said on Thursday.

He said that 6 new deaths have been recorded, bringing the total number since the beginning of the pandemic to 450.

Confirmed cases are spread across 47 Wilayas (regions), he said.

There are 1,779 cured patients, 77 of which were recorded in the last 24 hours.

Mr. Fourar said people aged between 25 and 60 years old account for 56 per cent of the total confirmed cases, while 65 per cent of deaths are among those aged between 65 years and over.
