Coronavirus: Mauritius to set up Preparedness Plan for Hospital Services

Port-Louis, Mauritius, May 1 (Infosplusgabon) – Mauritius will introduce a Preparedness Plan for its hospital services in a bid to render its health services as safe as possible for patients, visitors and the medical staff, in this period struggle against the coronavirus.

 

In a communique issued Thursday following the weekly cabinet meeting, the Government Information Services (GIS) gave the details of this Preparedness Plan, which lays emphasis particularly on adequate hospital staffing requirements to attend to patients.

 

According to the plan, medical and non-medical supplies should be in adequate stock in all the five regional hospitals.

 

A strict control of entry points for healthcare personnel and the public will be imposed to ensure that all persons entering the hospital premises wear masks, use hand sanitisers and have their temperature checked.

 

It said social distancing measures will be implemented within all premises, especially in waiting areas and counters. Outpatient Departments and Accident and Emergency Departments shall operate at staggered hours to avoid overcrowding.

 

Other measures include prioritisation of all surgeries; setting up of separate flu clinics; disinfection of hospital premises; and visitors to be limited to one per patient in wards.

 

In another communiqué, the Ministry of Health and Wellness the confirmed cases stand 332.
