Tunis, Tunisia, April 30 (Infosplusgabon) - The president of the Tunisian National Observatory for Human Rights, Moustapha Abdelkrim, has called on the Tunisian authorities to speed up the repatriation of their citizens stranded in Libya.

In a statement on Wednesday, he said this is urgent given "the unbearable health and security situation in Libya".

The number of Tunisians currently stranded at the border crossing of Ras Jadir and its surroundings is estimated at 500, said Abdelkrim, who added that the number is likely to reach 1,500.

He called for the opening of the second border crossing, Al Dahabia, to allow Tunisians who have been stranded for a long time to return home.

Since the appearance of the new coronavirus (COVID-19), more than 2,200 Tunisians have been repatriated from Libya, through the border crossing at Ras Jadir.
