Malian army neutralizes terrorist group in central region

Bamako, Mali, April 29  (Infosplusgabon) - The Malian Armed Forces (FAMAs) on Tuesday neutralized an armed terrorist group during an attack on their position at Kouakrou in the Djenné circle of Mopti region, security sources said on Wednesday.

They said that elements of an armed terrorist group that arrived in pick-ups and on motorcycles attacked the position of the  armed forces who neutralized them at about 5:30 a.m., with the support of the air force.

Two Malian soldiers were injured during the operation in which FAMAs recovered, among other things, 3 Toyota vehicles, 13 motorcycles, several automatic weapons, bulk ammunition, 2 spare guns and a large stock of food.

The recovered vehicles belonged to the Malian army and had been stolen by the terrorists in a recent attack on the Malian armed forces in the centre of the country.

At least three terrorists were killed on the spot, according to the same source.
