Kigali, Rwanda, April 25 (Infosplusgabon) - Rwandan health authorities on Friday reported 22 new coronavirus cases, bringing the cumulative total to 176.

All new cases involve truck drivers who recently returned from neighbouring countries, a statement issued by the ministry of Health said without specifying names of concerned countries.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, medical supplies and food are in high demand in Rwanda where the trucking sector is the sole means to import goods from different sea ports serving as transit point for all goods to Rwanda.

Rwanda has instituted stringent checks at border points, banning the entry of foreign nationals since last month.

However, the country still faces a continuous trickle of cases brought in by citizens wanting to return home in spite of risks of getting infected.

In recent days, many of these have come back from Dubai, UAE. All travelers from affected countries are all put under quarantine for an initial 14-day period upon arrival.
