Tunis, Tunisia, April 24 (Infosplusgabon) - A meeting on Thursday between representatives of the Tunisian Ministry of Education and the Union of Basic Education has decided to end the 2019-2020 school year of basic education because of the disruption to the calendar by COVID-19.

According to the participants of the meeting, the averages of the first two semesters will be considered to decide the promotion of students to the upper class.

In mid-March, the Tunisian government decided to stop classes at all levels of education as part of measures taken to deal with the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19).

On the other hand, national exams, such as the Baccalaureate, are maintained, and students involved in the national exams will take their exams in July, after completing the year in one month, government spokesperson Asma Shiri said.

But the unions stressed the need to ensure the health of students and education executives and the implementation of preventive measures after the agreement on the resumption of classes.
