Brazzaville, Congo, April 19 (Infosplusgabon) - The Congolese head of state, Denis Sassou Nguesso, is likely to extend the state of health emergency in the country due to the continuous spread of the coronavirus (COVIC-19)in the country, an official source said here Saturday.
The spokesman of the Congolese government, Thiery Lezin Moungalla, disclosed this after a meeting of the council of ministers, 21 days after the entry into force of response measures to fight against COVID-19.
According to him, as of April 17, the number of people infected with the coronavirus had increased from 74 to 143, causing concern to the highest authorities.
The Congolese parliament therefore held an extraordinary session to examine the bill that will give the head of state the possibility of extending the state of health emergency in the country.
