Coronavirus: Tunisia extends period of general health confinement

Tunis, Tunisia, April 19 (Infosplusgabon) - Tunisia's National Security Council meeting here Friday chaired by Tunisian President Kais Saied decided to extend the period of general health confinement, the maximum period of which will be determined by the government, an informed source said.

The Council discussed the general situation in the country, including developments in the health situation; before assessing the measures taken to deal with the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the source added.

The meeting also looked at the review of new measures that could be taken against the backdrop of current economic, social and educational developments.

The Tunisian president spoke of corruption that plagued several regions, affirming the need to restore confidence in the citizens so as not to feel treated as mere electoral cards, but must participate in the decision-making process.
