Libreville, Gabon, April 15 (Infosplusgabon) - Gabon has registered 18 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 75, the Steering Committee of the Monitoring and Response Plan to the coronavirus epidemic announced on Wednesday on national television.
"According to the figures, the epidemic is gaining momentum and the health authorities seem to no longer control all the parameters of the pandemic in a country where citizens are defying public authority," PANA learnt from Robert Mboumba, president of the Association for Local Hygiene, which fights against unsanitary conditions in the districts of Libreville, the capital.
Among confirmed cases, there is a trader working at Mont-Mbouet market, the largest in the capital, which is always crowded in disregard of the distancing instructions and where the majority of buyers and sellers do not wear masks or gloves.
Two patients were admitted for respiratory support and 44 patients were prescribed hydroxychloroquine on Monday.
The Covid-19 disease has already killed one man in Gabon.
