Bamako, Mali, April 11 (Infosplusgabon) - Mali's Ministry of Health has formally banned the marketing of a chloroquine-like pharmaceutical product, branded "chloroquine phosphate tablets BP 100mg", supposed to fight COVID-19.

In a statement made available on  Friday, the ministry called on importers, pharmacies and others who prescribe drugs to combat fake drugs in the country.

Sold as a remedy for coronavirus disease, the product, which is subject to controls by Mali's National Health Laboratory, does not meet any pharmaceutical standard, the ministry underlined.

The ministry warned that it reserves the right to take legal action against any individual found in possession of this fake  product.
