Four people killed in mine explosion in central Mali

Bamako, Mali, April 11 (Infosplusgabon) -  Four people were killed and four others injured when a mine exploded in the vehicle they were travelling in on Wednesday hit a landmine between Tonou and Sobangouma in the Koro Circle of Mopti region, central Mali, informed sources told on Friday.

The vehicle of the delegation, which was on a mission to oversee the first round of the legislative elections on 29 March, on its return hit a mine, killing 4 people including a civil administrator, a soldier and two civilians and injuring 4 others, the same sources added.

The municipalities of Dioungani and Dinangourou, located east of the Koro Circle, with several kilometres of forest stretches, form the rear base of jihadist groups operating along the Mali-Burkina border, a security source said.
